206 Family Vacation taught by Sherry Bray

This takes whimsy and your family vacation and have them collide on the canvas.  So much fun to stitch.

This is the class to take if you just want to have pure fun for the duration of your retreat.  I promise.

We will take a little poetic license with the canvas and run amuck.  We will attach ta-tas, rather large ta-tas in fact, an especially pretty bathing cap reminiscent when I was a beautiful swimming machine, not to mention hairy armpits and chest hair.  All in the name of bringing joy to our hearts.

Simple stitches and techniques for stitching rapture.

Abyss-Toni-Gerdes.jpg

208 Abyss taught by Toni Gerdes

An abyss, chasm, or crevice can certainly display the icy realms of the earth, but also you will react to the design on an emotional level when we explore the other definition of abyss, a profound difference between people. Using dramatic stitches with a similar feel to the stitches in the companion piece, Fire & Ice, we will create the icy cold perfection with our high & low columns. The background will continue the feel with a sparkly darning pattern. Using silks, overdyes, & metallic the icy landscape will come to life on the beautiful pale blue Congress cloth. This intermediate level canvas embroidery design is approximately 5 ½” x 11”.

Students to Bring: 12” x 15” Stretcher Bars & Usual stitching supplies

  • Study analogous colorways

  • You will learn to use different shades & textures of the same color to create a living object – ice.

  • Exploring the opposite of fire, we will use texture and color again to create crystals on our canvas

  • The effective use of lightly stitched &/or open canvas will be discussed with the example of the pale blue Congress Cloth in this piece
